[PEER REVIEW] Sharkitecture – Plantooms

Sharkitecture Peer Review – Plantooms
In this our second peer review for Sharkitecture, we were giving a presentation on the plantrooms that the group had just finished working on as the final addition to their hotels.
The first plantroom, titled ‘Woven’ consisted of a mass of small, intricate laser cut forms that massed together to become a single body of locking wooden strands. This highly connected structure was built into a very large industrial crane shape, and housed a lifting device which erected the sack – like dormitory rooms of the hotel.
The second plantroom took its place within the sail shaped structure of the other hotel. The laser cutting objective was met by taking sections from archicad, importing them into illustrator, and cutting many slices of the full building in mdf. These were then put together to achieve a small 1:100 scale model of the full hotel.
